It was a great pleasure to welcome Year 11 students in to school today to pick up their results.

"Our Year 11 students have worked incredibly hard for five years and we believe that the GCSE grades they have been awarded reflect this. They have shown great resilience and determination during a very challenging period of time and we are extremely proud of them." said Mrs Kane Deputy Headteacher at Great Sankey High School.

Mrs Kane explained "the approach to award teacher assessed grades gave students the best opportunity to demonstrate what they were capable of, while meeting the expectations of OFQUAL and the exam boards."

Mr Shannon, Headteacher at Great Sankey High School stated "Despite the challenges and disruption to education across the country our focus has always been to provide the best support possible to our young people, particularly those preparing for examinations. The school has once again achieved some fantastic grades and our students, parents and staff should be rightly proud of these results. Our relentless focus on improving teaching and learning over the last two years has resulted in an improvement 9-7 grades and 80% of the cohort left with 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above including English and maths. This year witnessed particularly strong performances in the core subjects of maths, English, biology, chemistry and physics in addition to optional subjects such as history and spanish.

Many of our students will continue to study with us at Barrow Hall College. Others will enter apprenticeships or continue their education elsewhere. Whichever path our students follow, we know they have the right skills and attributes to lead happy, successful lives and we wish them every success for the future."
