Welcome from the Headteacher, John Shannon

Welcome to Great Sankey High School. Our ten core values are the cornerstone of our happy, purposeful and thriving school. Learning is the central focus of all that is done at school and we are committed to inspiring each and every child to discover and develop their individual talents.

We encourage our pupils to believe that with hard work, anything is possible, and we expect the highest standards of behaviour and academic effort – and the utmost dedication from our teaching and support staff.  We are committed to giving pupils rewarding experiences in and beyond the classroom. We offer outstanding opportunities essential for personal, intellectual, emotional and social growth and provide a huge range of extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities. Our aim is to ensure that our pupils aspire to achieve great things and fulfil their potential, so that when they leave school they are not only prepared academically, but also inspired to make a proactive, positive and lasting contribution to society and live happy, healthy and fulfilled lives.

Great Sankey is a dynamic and constantly improving school, where all members of our community are encouraged to work in an atmosphere of mutual respect. All our pupils are supported by a strong pastoral system, which ensures they receive the individual care and attention they need.As a result, Great Sankey has an exceptional reputation for high educational standards and academic success.

The positive relationships we build with parents are a real strength of our school and the support they give us contributes significantly to our success. This website can only provide you with a brief introduction to the school. The best way to appreciate what Great Sankey High School has to offer is to see the school on a working day. If you wish to visit, please telephone for an appointment; you will be very welcome.
