The journey of former Great Sankey High School student Kathleen Dawson continues to captivate hearts as she secures her place in the upcoming Paris Olympics 2024. Kathleen's swimming endeavours commenced at the Great Sankey Leisure Centre, who has now renamed their pool 'The Kathleen Dawson Swimming Pool' in honour of her achievements, where she first dipped her toes into the pool under the tutelage of LiveWire instructors. It was here that her passion for swimming ignited, setting her on a path of relentless pursuit towards excellence. Joining the Warriors of Warrington Swimming Club further honed her skills, fostering an environment where her talent flourished.

 

The pinnacle of Kathleen's achievements came to fruition at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, where she clinched gold as part of the world record-smashing mixed 4x100m relay team that took gold for Team GB alongside Adam Peaty, James Guy and Anna Hopkin.
