A massive congratulations to our talented U15 netball team, who represented Great Sankey High School with pride and determination in this weekend’s Cheshire Schools Netball Tournament. The team, comprised of Year 9 and Year 10 girls, faced tough competition, but their skill and teamwork earned them an outstanding 1st place in the U15 Plate Cup and 3rd place overall in the tournament.

The event, held on Saturday, saw schools from across Cheshire battling it out in a series of high-pressure matches. Our girls stepped onto the court with energy and focus, demonstrating their exceptional netball abilities and competitive spirit. Despite facing some challenging opponents, the team fought their way through the rounds with impressive performances.

In their final game, the U15s went head-to-head in a thrilling Plate Cup final. Both teams were relentless, but the Sankey girls powered through in a closely contested match, securing an impressive 8-5 victory. This hard-fought win not only earned them the top spot in the Plate Cup but also sealed their place as the 3rd best team overall in the U15 category.

Throughout the tournament, the team demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, resilience, and the ability to adapt under pressure. Their success was built on strong teamwork and a collective passion for the game, which helped them rise to the occasion during critical moments. Their commitment to netball, both in training and in competition, has truly shone through.

Lois, Amelia, Mia, Lucy, Jessie, Jasmine, and Katie each played a vital role in the team’s success, and their camaraderie on and off the court has been a key factor in their achievements. Their dedication to school netball is truly commendable, and their hard work is paying off as they continue to grow as a team.

Netball coach Miss Derbyshire praised the girls, stating, “The team showed immense character and determination throughout the tournament. They gave 100% in every match and thoroughly deserved their victory in the Plate Cup. I couldn’t be more proud of how far they’ve come this season, and I’m excited to see how they continue to develop.”

This achievement is a fantastic milestone for the girls and a great indication of what lies ahead for them this season. The whole school community is incredibly proud of their performance and looks forward to seeing more successes as the team continues to go from strength to strength.

Congratulations once again to our U15 netball stars – we’re excited to see where your netball journey takes you next!
