Great Sankey High School is brimming with pride as several of our talented netball players have achieved remarkable success, earning spots in prestigious county and Super League franchise programs. These students’ dedication, skill, and relentless commitment to their sport have set a fantastic example for all aspiring athletes in our school community.

Lucy Gough (Year 10) stands out for her dual accomplishment this season. After rigorous trials, she has been selected to join the Cheshire County Academy’s U15 Player Development Programme (PDP). This program is part of the England Netball Pathway, a crucial stepping stone for players with aspirations to progress within the national netball structure. Lucy’s selection for the PDP highlights her hard work and skill, marking her as a player to watch in the years to come.

In addition to her place in the PDP, Lucy has also secured a spot at Nottingham Forest Netball Club’s U16 Forest Performance Centre (FPC). This is an extraordinary achievement, as Nottingham Forest is a brand-new Super League Netball Franchise, and her inclusion in the FPC showcases her talent at a national level. Balancing commitments to both the PDP and the Forest Performance Centre will undoubtedly challenge and further develop Lucy’s abilities, and we are excited to support her on this journey.

Adding to this list of high achievers, our Year 8 students Holly Dutton and Macy Rushbrooke have been selected to represent Cheshire at the U13 level. These students demonstrated exceptional aptitude during their trials, impressing selectors with their tactical understanding, teamwork, and athleticism. This opportunity provides Holly and Macy a platform to continue refining their skills among the best in their age group across the county.

Our Year 7 students, Laura McWilliams and Lucie Waterson, have also earned places in the Cheshire county squad at the U12 level. This achievement is particularly noteworthy for these younger athletes, as it highlights their potential and early promise in the sport. Competing at this level will grant Laura and Lucie valuable exposure to advanced coaching and competitive play, setting a solid foundation for their future in netball.

Another remarkable success story is Jasmine Barrett, who has been selected to represent Merseyside U15 Academy following a successful series of trials. Jasmine’s determination and commitment have shone brightly, and her selection underscores the depth of talent among our students. We are incredibly proud of her accomplishment and look forward to watching her thrive in county competition.

Each of these players has put in hours of practice, rigorous training, and displayed outstanding perseverance to achieve these remarkable accomplishments. They have not only represented themselves but also our school community with pride, showing what can be achieved through hard work and dedication. Great Sankey High School is immensely proud of each of these young athletes, and we look forward to following their journeys as they continue to excel and inspire others in the school and beyond. Congratulations to all on these well-deserved achievements!
