It has been a thrilling and action-packed week of sport for Great Sankey High School, with teams competing at regional and national levels across multiple disciplines. Our students have demonstrated resilience, determination, and teamwork, securing impressive victories and showcasing their sporting talents.

Year 7 Girls Football Triumph

A huge congratulations to our Year 7 girls' football team, who emerged victorious in the Warrington Schools' competition, winning all their games. Their outstanding performance has earned them a place in next month’s County Finals, where they will proudly represent the school. We look forward to seeing them in action again as they continue their impressive season.

Standout Performances Across Sports

This week has seen our teams in action across basketball, football, netball, and rugby, competing at both regional and national levels. Some of the standout moments include:

  • Year 9 Boys Football progressing in the Cheshire Cup with a hard-fought 3-2 victory.
  • Year 7 and Year 8 Boys Basketball securing wins in the Jr NBA competition.
  • Year 8 Girls Netball dominating in the Warrington Schools’ competition, winning all their games.

Year 11 Rugby Team's Journey

Despite a valiant effort, our Year 11 Rugby team fell short in the Northwest Semi-Final, losing 12-4 to Bridgewater. This marks the end of a remarkable five-year journey where the team has consistently competed at the highest levels both regionally and nationally. Their dedication to school rugby has been exceptional, and we are immensely proud of their achievements. We thank them for their commitment to Great Sankey sport and look forward to seeing their continued development in both local and professional rugby.

Looking Ahead

As we move forward, we are excited to see how our teams continue to grow and develop. Best of luck to all our students in their upcoming fixtures!
