Year 11 Student Iris Signs for Crewe Alexandra and Makes History!

We are thrilled to share the incredible news that Year 11 student Iris has signed for Crewe Alexandra, after progressing through the Club’s Emerging Talent Centre (ETC). Iris, who has spent the last three years developing her skills at the ETC, has now penned a deal to join Matt Fisher’s side in the North West Regional League, becoming the sixth homegrown player to make the step up from the ETC.
Head Coach Matt Fisher commented on Iris’s development:
"Iris is a player who embodies the Crewe Alexandra way, and her consistent performances, technical ability, and commitment to development have convinced the coaching staff that she is ready to make the step into the senior environment. She brings intensity, honesty, and a fantastic technique that allows us to turn defence into attack quickly. She’s earned this opportunity because of her quality and her character. I know she’ll be a huge asset to the first team both now and in the future – but what’s most important is that we support her properly, take the right steps, and help her grow in the best way possible."
This week, Iris added another milestone to her remarkable journey. At just 16 years and 21 days old, she became the club’s youngest ever Adobe Women’s FA Cup scorer, netting the crucial second goal in a 2–0 victory over Harrogate.
Everyone at Great Sankey High School is incredibly proud of Iris’s achievements and her continued commitment to excellence, both on and off the pitch. Her dedication, talent, and character have already earned her recognition at a national level, and we cannot wait to see what the future holds.
Congratulations, Iris — the future is bright!
