Our school community is incredibly proud of former student Ethan, who continues to show outstanding courage, determination and resilience in the face of significant life challenges.

Now aged 17, Ethan has already overcome more obstacles than many people experience in a lifetime. Born with a condition called Club Foot, he has spent much of his life attending hospital appointments, undergoing treatments and facing ongoing physical challenges. Despite this, Ethan has always shown a positive mindset and a determination to live life to the fullest.

In January last year, Ethan made the incredibly brave and life-changing decision to have his lower leg amputated. This was not a decision taken lightly, but one made with maturity, strength and a clear focus on improving his long-term quality of life. His courage throughout this process has been truly inspiring to everyone who knows him.

Since his surgery, Ethan has worked tirelessly on his recovery. Showing remarkable determination, he has already returned to Monday night training with the Physical Disability Rugby League (PDRL) team and is working towards his goal of returning to competitive rugby league. Even more special, Ethan hopes to one day play alongside his dad — a goal that means a huge amount to him and highlights the strong family support around him.

To support causes close to his heart, Ethan is now taking on an incredible fundraising challenge. Ahead of the opening Super League Round 1 fixture against St Helens, Ethan will complete a charity walk from the BrewDog Stadium to the Halliwell Jones Stadium this Friday.

This challenge represents everything Ethan stands for — resilience, inclusion and giving back to others.

Half of the money raised will go to the Warrington Wolves Community Foundation to support and grow the Physical Disability Rugby League programme. This programme plays a vital role in giving individuals with physical disabilities access to sport, helping them build confidence, improve wellbeing and feel part of a supportive team environment.

The remaining funds will support Ethan’s upcoming trip to Sri Lanka this June through the Healthcare Programme at Warrington & Vale Royal College. During this life-changing experience, Ethan will take part in medical outreach work, shadow healthcare professionals on hospital wards, in clinics and in operating theatres. This opportunity will allow him to gain valuable insight into healthcare careers while supporting communities overseas.

Ethan’s journey is a powerful reminder of the strength of character, resilience and compassion that young people can show. He continues to be a fantastic role model, demonstrating that challenges do not have to define you — determination and positivity can help you achieve incredible things.

We are extremely proud to call Ethan one of our former students and look forward to following his journey as he continues to inspire others both locally and internationally.
