Great Sankey High School students are celebrating after another incredible set of results.  Yet again our results have continued to improve, reinforcing our position as one of the highest performing schools in the area.  Progress of all students, and in particular our most vulnerable has improved yet again.

Headteacher, Paula Crawley said “We are absolutely delighted with this year’s results, especially when you consider that these are the new, more challenging qualifications.  Congratulations to all of our students.  These results are thoroughly deserved and reflect the hard work and dedication of students and staff “.

Students performed exceptionally well across all subject disciplines.  For example, over 80% of students achieved grades at 9-4 in English and Maths. Biology achieved 50% of grades at the very highest standard of 9-7%, 49% in Physics and 48% in Chemistry. All 3 science subjects also achieved 100% at the key benchmark of 9-4 which is really impressive.  Other subjects achieved equally impressive results for example in Spanish, 42% of students achieved grade 9-7, 45% in Art and, 35% in Electronic Products, 30% in English Literature, 30% in Geography, 27% in History and 26% in Psychology.

There were many notable individual student successes with Joseph achieving a phenomenal nine GCSEs at grade 9 and one at a grade 8. Lily achieved eight GCSEs at grade 9 and two at grade 8. Thomas achieved seven GCSEs at grade 9 and three at grade 8 and Chloe gained seven GCSEs at grade 9, two at grade 8 and a grade 7.  Head Girl Beth led by example achieving six GCSEs at grade 9, two at grade 8 and one grade 7.

These fantastic results will allow our students to successfully progress to the next stage of their education.

Many students will choose to join our highly successful sixth form, Barrow Hall College. We would like to congratulate the class of 2019 and wish them every success for the future.
