On Thursday, 22nd February, our school was buzzing with literary fervour as we welcomed acclaimed author Matt Oldfield. Known for his contributions to the world of football literature, Matt's visit kickstarted our celebrations in anticipation of World Book Day.

 

Matt, the co-author of several renowned series including Ultimate Football Heroes and Johnny Ball: Football Genius, brought a dynamic energy to our literary celebration. His expertise, especially evident in his award-winning book "Unbelievable Football," added a captivating layer to the event.

 

Throughout the day, Year 8 students had the privilege of engaging with Matt in an assembly and writing workshops, stepping outside the confines of traditional classroom learning. During these sessions, Matt shared invaluable insights on the craft of writing, offering practical advice on structuring narratives and enhancing storytelling skills. Importantly, he emphasized the theme of resilience, encouraging students to persevere through challenges, a message deeply woven into his writing workshops.
