In an impressive feat of dedication and skill, Martha, a devoted member of the Great Britain youth weightlifting squad, has been selected to compete in the prestigious European Weightlifting Federation European Championships. This esteemed competition will be held from June 15-22, 2024, in Thessaloniki, Greece, bringing together the best young weightlifters from across the continent.

Martha's selection is a testament to her hard work, dedication, and exceptional talent in the sport of weightlifting. Despite her incredible achievements, Martha has always tended to keep her successes low key. However, we believe it is time to celebrate and recognize her outstanding accomplishments and the inspiration she brings to us all.

Her journey in weightlifting began at a young age, and she has already achieved remarkable success. In 2022, Martha clinched the title of British Age Group Olympic Weightlifting Champion in the U15’s category, an impressive feat considering she had only just turned 13 at the time. This victory was a clear indication of her potential and her commitment to excelling in the demanding sport of weightlifting.

Her accomplishments didn’t stop there. In the summer of 2022, Martha competed in the European Youth Championships in Poland, where she delivered a stellar performance. She successfully snatched 60kg and executed a clean and jerk of 76kg, resulting in a total of 136kg. This outstanding effort earned her 8th place overall, showcasing her as a formidable competitor on the European stage. Her performance in Poland not only demonstrated her physical strength but also her mental fortitude and ability to perform under pressure.

Martha's success has not come without sacrifice. She has dedicated countless hours to training, often balancing her rigorous training schedule with her academic responsibilities. Her coaches and teammates speak highly of her discipline, resilience, and unwavering focus. Martha's journey is a source of inspiration to her peers, illustrating that with hard work and dedication, it is possible to achieve great things.

As Martha prepares to take on this next challenge in Thessaloniki, the support from her peers, teachers, and the entire school community is overwhelming. Everyone is incredibly proud of her achievements and is rooting for her to succeed in the upcoming competition.

We wish Martha the best of luck and are confident that she will represent our school and country with the same dedication and excellence that have brought her this far. The whole school is behind you, cheering you on and looking forward to celebrating your successes at the European Weightlifting Championships in Thessaloniki.
