We are incredibly proud to celebrate the success of our talented students who delivered outstanding performances at this year’s Proms in the Square, despite the weather turning dramatically just as they stepped onto the main stage.

Alison (Y13 – violinist), Ethan (Y11 – pianist), Georgie (Y11 – musical theatre vocalist), and Mrs Cosgrove (flute) were once again invited to perform in the heart of Warrington’s Time Square as part of this flagship cultural event, which marked the finale of Warrington’s second Music Month.

Now in its third year, Proms in the Square brought together a vibrant mix of professional and community ensembles, including The Untold Orchestra, the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra Wind Quintet, West End tribute act Wickeder, Warrington Brass Band, Twisted Tubes, and The Rock Choir.

As our students began their set, the heavens opened — but the show most certainly went on. Battling through the downpour with professionalism and passion, our performers didn’t miss a beat. Impressively, the audience stayed to enjoy the full set, a testament to the high quality of the performance and the resilience of our young musicians.

We were also thrilled to see Mrs Buchan take to the stage as a performer with Rock Choir, the UK’s leading contemporary choir experience. Known for its uplifting and inclusive approach to music, Rock Choir offers no-audition, no-music-reading-required sessions across over 400 communities in the UK, bringing people together through pop and contemporary songs, friendship, and fun.

Visitors to the event enjoyed delicious food and drink from local vendors including Warrington Market and the Pink Leaf pop-up bar, with extended opening hours adding to the lively atmosphere. Free Sunday parking helped make the event accessible for all.

Earlier in the week, Mrs Cosgrove also spoke live with Helen Jones on BBC Radio Merseyside, sharing her passion for the arts and highlighting the value of music education in supporting young people’s confidence, creativity, and well-being.

A huge thank you to everyone who came along to support our performers — it was a day filled with music, community spirit, and unforgettable memories, rain and all!
