Albert’s Big Chop in Memory of His Cousin

A Great Sankey High School student is preparing to do something truly selfless in memory of a loved one, turning personal loss into a powerful act of kindness.
Albert in year 7 has made the decision to donate a significant amount of his hair to The Little Princess Trust, a charity that provides real-hair wigs free of charge to children and young people who lose their hair as a result of cancer treatment and other serious illnesses.
Albert’s fundraising challenge is deeply personal. He is doing this in loving memory of his cousin, George, who very sadly passed away from leukaemia in 2021. George’s illness and bravery left a lasting impact on Albert and his family, and this challenge is Albert’s way of honouring his cousin while helping other children facing similar battles.
Rather than setting a date straight away, Albert has set himself a fundraising target and is determined to reach it before the “big chop” takes place. Every donation brings him closer to making his hair donation possible and helping The Little Princess Trust continue its incredible work supporting children during some of the most difficult times of their lives.
The Little Princess Trust relies on the generosity of donors like Albert to create wigs that help young people regain confidence and feel more like themselves while undergoing treatment. By taking on this challenge, Albert is not only donating his hair but also raising vital funds to support children and families across the UK.
Albert’s determination, compassion and willingness to help others is something the whole school community is incredibly proud of. His challenge is a moving reminder of how young people can make a real difference, even in the face of personal loss.
