A Fond Farewell to Year 11

Last Friday, we said an emotional goodbye to our incredible Year 11 students as they came together for their final day at Great Sankey High School.
The day began as pupils arrived through the LiveWire gate and gathered with their form groups one last time. Classrooms were filled with shirt signing, card writing, gifts, and laughter as students marked this special moment with their friends and teachers.
Following form time, the students enjoyed refreshments and free time on the school field. The Sixth Form foyer and field area provided the perfect backdrop for photos and final memories. An ice cream van added to the celebrations, while sports on the 4G pitch, the Youth Zone, and a Chill Zone gave everyone space to relax, chat and enjoy their last afternoon together.
A real highlight of the day was seeing KS3 students form a ‘Guard of Honour’, lining the yard to cheer and clap Year 11s as they made their way to their final assembly in the BHT.
The leavers’ assembly was full of laughter and tears, with a wide range of fun and light-hearted awards voted for by the students — including Most Likely to Be Prime Minister, Most Likely to Win the Hunger Games, Best Bromance, Class Clown, and Most Likely to Win the Lottery But Lose the Ticket, among many others.
There were plenty of emotional moments throughout, especially from the dedicated Year 11 team — Mrs Lee, Mrs Woodroffe, and Mrs Rodgers — who have supported and championed this year group throughout their journey at GSHS.
It was a fantastic day for an amazing group of young people. We are incredibly proud of them all and wish them the very best for their next steps.
